# Find pools

> Use discovery, token search, and pool details to understand a market before depositing.

A token can trade in several pools with different quote assets, liquidity, fees, and hooks. Find the token first, then choose its pool.

## Search for a specific token

Open **Search tokens** and enter a name, symbol, or contract address. Press `/` to open search when you are not typing in another field.

Use the contract address whenever you can, since names and symbols are not unique. For a newly launched token, compare it with the project's own published address. Search only shows tokens with liquidity pools, so an empty result does not prove a pool does not exist.

## Browse Discover

**Discover** ranks tokens by **Volume**, **Trades**, or **Fees** over a timeframe you choose. Rankings show recent activity, not safety or profitability.

## Compare the pools

Open **Pools** on the token page. Before configuring liquidity, check:

| Field                | What to look for                                                     |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Token pair           | The exact token and quote asset you will supply.                     |
| Protocol and pool ID | Which V3 or V4 market you are viewing.                               |
| Reserves             | Both token amounts and their displayed values.                       |
| Fee information      | The fee tier or current dynamic fees, including any provider charge. |
| Hook                 | The contract and rules associated with a V4 pool.                    |

## Read the token workspace

Use the chart, liquidity distribution, reserves, and [fee metrics](/learn/fees) together. The **Positions** tab includes other wallets' positions, so check **Owner** before treating a row as yours. A dash or unknown fee means the value is unavailable, not zero.
